Contreras to DL, White Sox seek pitching

The White Sox put right-hander Jose Contreras on the disabled list today, and they could well intensify their search for more pitching.

Contreras had elbow trouble in his final three starts of the first half. The Sox were hopeful that he could pitch through it, but now they're concerned that he could miss significant time.

D.J. Carrasco, who was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday, was brought back to replace Contreras on the roster. The original plan was that Carrasco would also replace Contreras in the rotation, but manager Ozzie Guillen used Carrasco in relief today against the Royals. The Sox remain in the market for another starting pitcher. Chicago is also seeking bullpen help, with Huston Street and Jon Rauch the two pitchers they've watched most closely.

Contreras to DL, White Sox seek pitching

I am proud of how well the Sox have done this season.  But it is a bit disturbing to see this one play out.  Most fans have known that Contreras needed replacing if the Sox are serious about a Series run and now this injury finally shows up.  The organization had more than enough players to offer to gain Rich Harden and they let him go to another team.  Now if this blog is right, Huston Street is in consideration for probably about the same price, and Jon Rauch- a player they drafted and gave away for practically nothing except one of multiple Carl Everett pickups by Kenny Williams.  I say it is time to give Nick Masset or Boone Logan their shot at the starting rotation if Kenny cannot pickup a proper starter.  In the meantime- let's get on it Kenny!

Eat crap.  If you can't respond with an intelligent comment, stick your head in toilet and flush repeatedly, jagbag.

From Twins fans perspective, we say, "Go Contreras...and take Pierzinski with you!!!" Losers!

I wonder if the White Sox might go for Burnett from the Blue Jays? The Jays are in desperate need of a SS and from what I've read the Sox are trying to deal O-Cabrera...hmm....?
